Just another dull conversation?I keep beating this drum. Dialogue in fiction is NOT what it is in real life. Think of all the conversations you´ve overheard on the subway, in line at the DMV. Most are boring to your ears, right? As a fiction writer, you get to pick and choose what words and information you put into dialogue. You compress, you edit out the uncompelling elements until you have something succinct that builds in tension and moves the story along.
