Balancing Scene with NarrationTake care to strike a balance between dramatic scene and narration. If you´re not sure which of the two you need to develop more, take a pair of scissors. Cut out all your dramatic scenes and compare them to the remaining passages of narrative summary/commentary. Is there drastically more of one than the other? You may need to work in the area you´re coming up short in. The odds are, you´re cutting scenes short. In that case, it´s simply a matter of analyzing the individual scenes for places where you can extend the dialogue or be more detailed in the non-speech passages.
