December 28, 2007, Newsletter Issue #142: Mentors

Tip of the Week

Your MFA experience will be enriched if you pursue a relationship with an older, more experienced writer. This person should be someone who you get along with well and who has demonstrated an interest in your work. A mentor can provide encouragement, advice, and will often agree to read work outside of the workshop setting. Grab onto these opportunities when they come along! YouŽll need the advice of a seasoned writer when it comes to publishing, getting an agent, etc.
